Discovering the Transforming Power of Jesus Christ
Change can be uncomfortable, painful and even frightening at times. But God offers to change us from the inside out. Jo uses humorous and poignant stories from her own life and God's word to show that by simply inviting Him in, we can all experience the transforming power of Jesus in our own lives.
A famous phrase here in Minnesota is, “if you don’t like the weather today, don’t worry. It will change.” As a meteorologist, I studied a lot about weather patterns and how heat, cold, moisture and wind all mix together to create truly amazing and awe-inspiring changes in our weather. The more I studied science, the more I was convinced that only God could have created the amazing set of checks and balances our climate goes through each and every day, to create weather events in our world. Change in the weather is inevitable. But even though we know it’s coming, even hearty Minnesotans are resistant to that change.
It’s the same way for Christ Followers. We study God’s word, we listen to our pastors talk about change through Jesus Christ, but we still find ourselves fighting the inevitable. God offers something wonderful for those who truly believe in His message of salvation. He offers us change from the inside out. Romans 12:2 says, “do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
If we truly want to experience transformation, true transformation as it is talked about in the Bible, then we need to be open to change. Like the saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather, don’t worry, it will change.” If you don’t like what’s going on in your spiritual life today, don’t worry. God can make a change for the better, starting now.
